I had a bit of server issues which have since been resolved. All should be back to normal.
Everything is back to normal
Everything is good again with the IRC Chat. I tracked the problem down to having the wrong port configured on a router as well as a wrong port in the configuration of the irc server. Anyway its all good now.

IRC Chat Still Down
After a series of problems including a crashed router and DNS server the IRC chat is still temporarily down. I hope to have it operating again by 10:00 PM EST at the earliest or by 8:00 PM EST tomorrow at the latest. Thank you for your patience.
Everything working fine
Yesterday we had an uptime of 93.7%. Sorry about that, but everything is up and running again.
